Abstract
The Wenchuan earthquake occurred this year has shown the vulnerability of public mobile communication system, due to its intrinsic limitation in resiliency and robustness in the event of natural disaster. In contrast to public mobile communication system, TETRA digital trunking system has unique advantages in these aspects. In this presentation, the unique advantages of TETRA digital trunking system on surviving the natural disasters will be introduced with following three points,

1. The robustness and resiliency of TETRA digital trunking system;
2. The rapid deployment of TETRA digital trunking system in natural disasters;
3. Relate issues which shall be considered during the site engineering work.

Speaker Biography
Mr. Yan Feng is an employee of SELEX Communications S.p.A., Finmeccanica Group. He is mainly responsible for the preliminary consultant and proposal of wireless communication system, including TETRA Digital Trunking System, SIMULCAST system and GSM-R. He is a member of IEEE and a graduate of National University of Ireland in Cork, majored in Microelectronic Design and awarded with postgraduate diploma. Mr. Feng has anticipated multiple TETRA Projects and he has solid understanding and abundant experience in TETRA systems. <Back>
