Topic: ¡°Understanding and Managing GPS Data¡±
Speaker: Mr Yu Zheng, Associate Researcher,
Microsoft Research Asia
Abstract
The increasing pervasiveness of GPS-enabled
devices has given arisen to a variety of applications based on GPS
data. For instance, in the scenario of geo-tagging, an individual is
able to tag photos with the locations where they were taken. Later,
users can effectively browse the photos on a map. However, so far,
these categories of applications still use raw GPS data directly
without much understanding. Meanwhile, the increasing availability
of GPS data has also brought the challenges on large-scale data
management. So, in this presentation, we will focus on the following
three parts:
1) Introduce some novel applications based on GPS
data and point out their constraints.
2) Understanding user behaviors and interests using GPS data.
3) Report on a technique offering spatio-temporal search function
over GPS data.
